University of Cincinnati American College of Clinical Pharmacy                                             (UC ACCP) Student Chapter

The University of Cincinnati American College of Clinical Pharmacy (UC ACCP) Student Chapter was officially establish on March 8, 2013. We were officially recognized as an Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP) Student Chapter on April 24, 2013. We will provide updates here.

Spring Update 2016

We here at The James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy are very excited about what 2016 holds in store for UC ACCP!  This past fall, five of our student members attended the ACCP annual meeting in San Francisco, California, where we had multiple students present posters and brush shoulders with the leaders of ACCP.  We are in the process of implementing our first ever round table event at the college, to emulate the round tables we have grown so accustomed to at OCCP and ACCP meetings.  This event will focus on residency and the match process and give students the opportunity to meet current residents and recently matched fourth year pharmacy students.  This spring will also see the second iteration of the Organ Donation Awareness Challenge.  Last spring, this challenge pitted individual classes within our college against one another to see which class had the most organ donors.  This spring we will be hosting this competition between our college and our neighbors across the street at the college of medicine.  We will be continuing our lunch-and-learn series and anyone who will be in the Cincinnati area is welcome to attend our tri-weekly meetings.  We hope to continue our national and local involvement and look forward to seeing everyone at the OCCP Spring meeting!

Fall Update

The University of Cincinnati American College of Clinical Pharmacy Student Chapter has had a very productive summer and fall. We started off our school year with our annual membership drive and were able to attract new members to boost our organization. We also had 5 members of our organization attend the ACCP Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas. Our members presented 4 posters in total and our very own Tyler Vest was invited to give a podium presentation on how to start a student chapter of ACCP. We have continued our “Lunch and Learn” sessions from last year and have had continued success with expert clinical pharmacists presenting on their specialties. We have also begun two community service events. One is Tar Wars, which focuses on preventing tobacco use in elementary aged kids; the other is a health screening at a local YMCA center. You can see more about these in the Community service tab. We have also recently begun a research PRN. More information can be seen about this in the local PRNs tab. We are also in the process of planning a visit from the current ACCP president, Judith Jacobi. This event will take place this coming February (2015). We are also approaching the two year date from our founding and will be going in front of our student government to receive our final approval as a school organization. This will occur in March of 2015. We have many exciting things going on currently and will continue to reach out and spread the word about clinical pharmacy!

Spring Update

The University of Cincinnati American College of Clinical Pharmacy (UC ACCP) Student Chapter is now a year old! The chapter has come a long way over the past year. We were recognized as one of the first thirteen ACCP Student Chapters back in October, and continue to be hard at work! We have completed our first elections, and are almost through a year of our “lunch-and-learn” therapeutic topic based meetings. Our organization is currently working on two research projects: increasing the awareness of OCCP, and a community service antimicrobial stewardship project. Members from our chapter are diligently working on both of these projects. We are currently planning for the fall semester and will report back when we have the updates! Several members of the chapter are looking forward to the OCCP Spring Meeting! The links on the side have been updated and contain more information about our organization!

We're Official!

The University of Cincinnati American College of Clinical Pharmacy (UC ACCP) Student Chapter was officially established on March 8, 2013. We were recognized as an Ohio College of Clinical Pharmacy (OCCP) Student Chapter on April 24, 2013. We spoke at the OCCP Spring Meeting about our UC ACCP Student Chapter, and had a great time! We are currently working on several community service projects, fundraisers, and we are conducting meetings twice a month. So far, we have raised money for Light The Night Walk, a walk for leukemia and lymphoma, by selling tickets for a Cincinnati Reds' game. We started our UC ACCP Karaoke Night earlier this month, and hope to continue this event every semester. We are also in progress of completing our application for recognition by ACCP as an official ACCP Student Chapter. Our UC ACCP has also started our first local PRN, and this is a student Ambulatory Care PRN. Lastly, the OCCP Leadership will be traveling to UC on November 21, 2013. We are very excited about this event! The links on the side contain more information about our organization.
